The second in the series of ‘lockdown concerts’ in Southwold’s St Edmund’s Church will take place on Tuesday 22nd December, 1pm, St Edmund’s Church Southwold.

Southwold’s now famous ‘Lockdown Trio’ of violinists Magnus and Marije Johnston and pianist Nathan Williamson will perform a relaxed and more informal concert with a lighthearted and festive feel. The concert will last just under one hour.

Due to Covid restrictions tickets must be purchased in advance here. The concert is also available to watch online via YouTube Live here or via Facebook Live here. The concert is also being broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk in their evening show of Tuesday 22nd December.

Online streaming is free to all but a suggested donation to the Southwold Music Trust of £5, to help cover the costs of the streaming, can be made here – thank you for your support.

Last week saw the first concert in this special series of events bringing live music back to Southwold. Violinist Marije Johnston and pianist Nathan Williamson, who both live in Southwold, gave a recital of Sonatas by Mozart, Schubert and Brahms to a socially distanced audience within church, streamed live online to three local care homes as well as around 200 individual listeners, plus another 150 listeners who have watched subsequently. A special Christmas children’s concert was also streamed live to Southwold Primary School earlier the same morning. Combining all these ‘audiences’ we estimate that the total number of listeners who have enjoyed our concert last Tuesday to be easily in excess of 500!

Four more concerts are currently planned for the new year, and we are delighted to confirm these dates, as follows:Tuesday 5th January, Tuesday 26th January, Tuesday 2nd February, Tuesday 23rd February. All of these concerts will be at 1pm in St Edmund’s Church, will be live streamed, with a special school’s concert for the children of Southwold Primary School staged on the same morning.

We are extremely grateful to the Southwold Trust, Rainbow Dickinson Trust, the Paisley Charitable Trust, as well as our many private sponsors and supporters who have made these concerts possible.
