Southwold Primary School children to perform this Christmas

This Autumn the Southwold Music Trust has teamed up with Aldeburgh’s Jubilee Opera to present a concert involving more than 50 local children, including members of Southwold Primary School Choir.

The concert will feature a fully staged performance of ‘The Winter Star’, a short opera based on the Christmas story by Malcolm Williamson. This will be preceded by a selection of songs and carols for Advent to celebrate the joy of singing and the coming of Christmas.

The concert will be led by the inspirational conductor Dominic Peckham, who regularly conducts the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and London Mozart Players. They will be accompanied by professional musicians making up the Jubilee Opera Ensemble.

This project will provide the children with a wonderful educational and performing experience, as well as providing uplifting and inspiring concerts for everyone in the community.

The concert is being staged in Southwold’s St Edmund’s Church on Saturday December 3rd, at 7pm. Tickets are available from Aldeburgh Music Box Office on 01728 687 110 or via www.aldeburgh.co.uk Booking is strongly advised: the central and front seats will be reserved, costing £10, with the rest of the church unreserved at £7:50, and 16s and under only £5. The same concert takes place the preceding weekend, on Saturday 26th November, in Aldeburgh Parish Church, also beginning at 7pm.
