Last weekend’s South Green Soiree in Southwold was cancelled on account of the weather (when was the last time it actually rained all day in Southwold, let alone all weekend?!) but as Monday evening looked balmy and warm, we decided we might try and squeeze in one more South Green concert before the end of September. It turned into the most beautiful evening, and we were thrilled that around 70 people joined us on the Green to listen to some live music by Marije Johnston and Nathan Williamson.
The fact that the decision to stage the concert had only ben made on Monday lunchtime made the whole evening all the more wonderful – there is something so community-spirited, simple, and warming about being able to simply stage an event ‘on the day’ and know that word of mouth will reach everyone and bring so much pleasure to so many.
Although we had every intention that this would be the last concert, the weather for next week doesn’t look too bad. So maybe we will play the weather by ear and see what we can do…! Keep an eye on our newsletters and social media.
We are very grateful to all those who have supported these events, and especially for the kind donations in the collection bucket to help cover musicians expenses.
