The Southwold New Year’s Day concert returns to St. Edmund’s Church at 3pm on 1st January 2025.

This year we welcome two distinguished singers – soprano Elinor Jane Moran and baritone Robert Gildon, both familiar to local audiences from their many performances in Southwold, Snape and elsewhere in the area (inbetween stops at distinguished national and international opera houses).

They will be joined by violinist Caroline Speca – who was for many years a member of the Royal Opera House Orchestra and now lives in Bungay – and by Southwold-based pianist Nathan Williamson.

The musicians will present a celebratory, humorous and reflective musical take on the theme of the New Year, featuring a wonderful range of songs, opera scenes, musicals, Gilbert & Sullivan, and magical instrumental interludes.

Nathan Williamson writes, ‘As we look around the world today we see many divisions, conflicts and troubles – yet the festive season instinctively brings hope for a brighter future. We hope our programme will both reflect on the challenges we face, whilst celebrating new beginnings and looking forward to a wonderful New Year.’

The concert will last approximately one hour. Younger audience members are welcome, with tickets for 16s and under completely free. Seats are reserved and demand is expected to be very high, so prompt booking is advised.
